The Williamsville Public Library and Museum strives to enhance the lives of the people who live in or visit our community. We aim to promote lifelong learning; to collect, preserve and exhibit materials pertaining to the Village’s history; and to encourage a love of reading.

The Friends of WPLM and WPLM have been awarded multiple grants towards the Outdoor Education Space being planned to transform the area behind the building. The space will be used to display local history items and to host educational programming.
Williams Township
$6,000 towards library cards for Township residents AND programming for kids, teens, and adults
Illinois Department of Natural Resources
Public Museum Capital Grants Program
$42,900 towards transforming the weed patch behind WPLM into accessible museum display and programming space
Williams Township
$6,000 towards the shed, which will create presentation AND storage space
Williamsville Community Foundation
$5,000 towards the shed, which will create presentation AND storage space
The Lumpkin Family Foundation
$4,000 towards trees for the outdoor programming space and educational programming
Illinois State Library through the Illinois Secretary of State:
$18,500 towards components to be used in outdoor programming for patrons of all ages
Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln Community Grants Program:
$500 towards the perimeter fence needed to keep young kids safe as they explore
Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln Access to Recreation Endowment Fund:
$2,000 towards the sidewalks that will make the planned Outdoor Education Space accessible to everyone.
Jennifer Sellers and State Farm
$500 towards sidewalks to make the area accessible to everyone
The BRANDT Foundation:
$5,000 towards creating outdoor museum exhibit space for items like grist mill stones
Williams Township:
$3,500 as a planning grant, which made it possible to seek other grant funding
The Friends of WPLM received an amazing surprise from Set-Free Reading, which used to work in the Williamsville-Sherman area to help young readers and their families. After ending their work as a non-profit, the organization donated $10,000 to WPLM.
Grant writing continues as WPLM strives to provide the best possible library and museum for our residents and visitors.
